Joseph Boyko passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre following a lengthy illness. He lived a varied career that began in trucking in Schreiber where he worked for several years until 1950 when he gained employment at Port Arthur Shipyards where he worked as a welder until his retirement. He remembered his first ship "The Redwater". He enjoyed having his friends and relatives coming to visit and having the occasional barbeque at his home on Lakeshore Drive.
Joseph is survived by his sister Norma Zloty of Calgary now in Thunder Bay, niece Carol Klukie, nephews Jack Bennett, David (Christine) Zloty of Vancouver and Peter Jr. (Susann) Zloty of Calgary as well as by numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents Doris and William Boyko, sister Frances and brother-in-law Joseph Klukie, brother-in-law Peter Zloty, niece Barbara Bennett, nephew Reginald Klukie and great nephew Josh Klukie. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street with Rev. Randy Boyd presiding.
