Birthplace: Huntsville, Ontario

Fred ( Frederick C. ) Armstrong Fred passed away peacefully at TBRHSC on May 24, 2008 with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Fred was born in Huntsville, ON on November 16, 1950. As a boy, he played many sports, but he loved playing hockey which became a lifelong pastime. As a teenager, Fred's family moved to Thunder Bay, where he attended Hammaraskjold High School and played for the Hammaraskjold Vikings. During his life, Fred had several careers, but at CKPR TV he found a passion in production and developed many life-long friendships. Throughout his life, Fred's favourite place was always the family camp at Lake Shebandowan where he was often found spending time with his parents, out on the lake fishing or baking his legendary butter tarts and perfect pies. He is survived by his daughter Rachel Law who he considered his greatest accomplishment, his parents Ed and Marjory, his partner Lally, his sisters Heather and Nancy, and his niece and nephew Heather and Roger. Fred was predeceased by his beloved sister Susan Bradshaw and his grandparents. Over the last year, his constant companion that brought him immeasurable comfort and happiness was his dog Daisy. - We will miss his intelligent well informed humour and quiet, gentle, beautiful soul. In keeping with Fred's wishes, there will be a private celebration of his life. Arrangements entrusted to the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street.
