Joan Bougie

Birthplace: Port Arthur, Ontario

It is with great sorrow the family of Mrs. Joan Lenora Bougie, age 68 years, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, January 26th, 2009. Joan was born in Port Arthur on October 17th, 1940. She grew up in North McIntyre. Joan enjoyed life to it's fullest with great zest! Joan had a love for dancing, gardening, shopping, craft shows, quilting, fishing and traveling with her friends and family. She also truly enjoyed "The Hot Rods", Thunder Bay Legends, Daylin James, Thunder Bay Male Choir, Quilting Ladies, Red Hat Ladies, Magnus Theatre and the 55 Plus Centre. Joan worked at Sears for 33 years as a Sales Representative and made many great friendships with fellow employees, management and her customers. She truly enjoyed working. She is survived by her good friend Dennis Perron, children Cindy(Bruce) Wickstrom, Debbie(Dave) Johnson, and her #1 son Leonard Bougie, grandchildren Aimee, Arthur and Leah, Her sister Susan(Richard) Maki, brother Leonard(Rene) Heyder, brother-in-law Doug(Lenora) Sooley, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and many other family members, Her extended families Wickstrom, Perron and Kapush, and her large circle of friends. She was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Thelma Heyder, sister Shirley Sooley and daughter Linda Peuhkuri. A private family interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery and a Celebration of Joan's Life will be held on Friday, January 30th, 2009 at the North McIntyre Recreation Centre on Government Road between 1pm and 4pm. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Foundation-Hospice unit or the Northern Cancer Research Foundation.
