BLANCHARD- Mrs. Evelyn Irene Blanchard, age 92 years, a resident of Chartwell Select, former longtime resident of Winnipeg Avenue, passed away in the T.B.R.H.S.C. on May 23, 2009. Evelyn was born in Kenora on December 29, 1916 to Walter and Hilda Edwards. She came to Thunder Bay as a young girl and resided here ever since. She was a member of the Daughters of England, the Order of the Eastern Star, a very active member of the Ladies Shrine Group and St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. It was through the church that she met her husband Harold Blanchard to whom she was married for 55 years until his passing in 1998. A mother of five children, Evelyn’s family was first and foremost in her life. She loved spending time with family and friends at the family camp at Amethyst Harbour. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Ann (Doug) Ritchie of London, Ontario, Peter (Joanna) Blanchard of Toronto, Susan (Don) Campbell of Bloomfield, Michigan, Greg (Gayle) Blanchard of Burlington, Ontario, and Stephen (Anne) Blanchard of Nepean, Ontario; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sister Phyllis Butler, dear friend Iris Durnford as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, 2 brothers and 1 daughter-in-law. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 3, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church with Rev. Canon Paul Carr presiding. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd from 6-8 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street.
