As of July 1, 2010, the 13% Harmonized Sales Tax, will be applied to all funeral related expenses.
It is important to note that funeral arrangements which are paid in advance of need, prior to July 1st, will not be subject to this increase in tax; only the 5 % GST (goods and services tax) will apply. This also pertains to those who may wish to prepay the arrangements over a period of time.
